What is a Swing?
A swing is a real movement in a betting line — a spread, total, or moneyline shifting between the moment it opens and the moment a game goes live. The Butch engine records the opening line, polls live odds across sportsbooks, and flags every move worth your attention. Big moves are how sharp money leaves fingerprints. The engine scores each swing 0–100 so you can tell a real signal from the market's background noise.
The spread is drifting away from the favorite — the books are making the favorite cheaper to back, which usually means money is landing on the underdog.
Example — Chiefs opened -7. Monday morning they are -5.5. The favorite got 1.5 points cheaper without any score being posted — that is money talking, not the game.
Takeaway — Sharp money often backs the underdog here. The public keeps pounding the favorite, but the line moves the other way.
The Butch Swing Score
Every detected swing gets a score from 0 to 100. It blends how far the line moved with where the money actually landed versus where the public's tickets are. The higher the score, the more the move looks like informed money — not just public noise.
A market-wide, multi-point move. The strongest sharp signal the board produces. Vinnie treats these as his best opportunities.
A clear, sustained move worth acting on. Strong evidence of informed money behind one side.
A real move but not yet decisive. Worth tracking — Vinnie will strike on the top of this tier if nothing stronger is on the board.
Routine drift. The engine logs it for history, but it is not an actionable signal on its own.
Reverse Line Movement is not a separate points bucket — it is a strong multiplier on the movement score when the line moves toward a side the public is betting against.

When Will Vinnie Strike?
Vinnie the Pendulum does not pick on a clock — he waits for the market to move. The engine scans live odds on a fixed schedule. After every scan, Vinnie automatically checks the board and strikes only if he finds a swing that clears every eligibility bar below. No qualifying swing means no pick — Vinnie would rather sit out than force a bad number.
